Bob Mould’s ’90s output to get deluxe reissue treatment

Former Husker Du mainman Bob Mould’s back catalog will be reissued in the coming months by England’s Demon/Edsel label.

The two albums he recorded as the leader of the power trio Sugar — “Copper Blue” and “File Under: Easy Listening” — will each feature added b-sides and other extra tracks, a second live CD and a DVD with videos and TV appearances.  Of special note to local fans is the live DVD added to “FU:EL,” as it’s a Sugar concert recorded at First Avenue in November 1994.  Sugar’s infamous “Beaster” EP will also revisit stores, although it doesn’t have any extras beyond a DVD with the video for “Tilted” and four live songs shot in London in 1993.

Meanwhile, Mould’s post-Sugar albums “Bob Mould” (a.k.a. “the one with the hubcab on the cover”) and “The Last Dog and Pony Show” (which, when it arrived in ’98, was supposed to signal the end of Mould’s day as a rocker) will be collected into a three-CD set.  ”Bob Mould” includes five b-sides (two of which were recorded at First Avenue in 1995), while the third disc features an 18-song live set from London circa 1998.

Expect to pay $20-plus for each title, although judging by the similar 2CD/1DVD sets Demon/Edsel did last year with the Suede and Jesus and Mary Chain catalogs, it’ll be worth it.  See here for more details on the Sugar titles and here for more on the solo set.
